Italy. Associate Professor in Applied Physics (FIS07) at the Medical Faculty
in Dept. of Physical and Astronomical Sciences at University of Palermo.
Degrees in Biological Sciences in 1989. PhD in Chemical Sciences (Physical
Chemistry) in 1994. Researcher FIS07 from 1999 to 2006 at the Medical Faculty.
Training period at Dept Biological Chemistry, Medical School, University of Maryland, Baltimore (USA). She obtained several post-doctoral fellowships. Scientific interests mainly concern: Study on the structural, functional and dynamic relationship in native, mutant and recombinant proteins. Heme-proteins and model systems studied by FTIR spectroscopy. Conformational and structural changes involved in the different steps of proteins aggregation. Several research projects, have produced 87 scientific publications and communications. Expertise areas: spectroscopy (IR, Raman,,UV-VIS), protein sample preparations (chemical solutions, purifications, electrophoresis, chromatography, centrifugation). Referee for international journals: Biophysical Chemistry, BBA-Proteins and Proteomics, Journal of Controlled Release, Journal of Agricoltur and Food Chemistry. Teaching activity: Applied Physics and Biophysics in the Faculties of Medicine and Sciences. Member of the Academic Senate of the University of Palermo until 2006. |
